BMZ Project (4383-BMZ-SDL-MYP)-CBM
BMZ Project is a collaborative initiative between Benedictine Eye Hospital, Lions Deutschland, and the German Cooperation. The project focuses on strengthening eye care services and Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) for needy patients in Eastern Uganda.
Key interventions include provision of corrective surgeries, assistive devices, outreach programs, and capacity building for healthcare providers. The project aims to improve access to quality eye care, enhance rehabilitation services, and promote the social inclusion of persons with disabilities, particularly children and vulnerable populations in the region.

Success Road Map
1. Training
Strengthening capacity of first aiders, OCOs, nurses, and other eye health workers in the six districts with the aim of preparing them for early case identification, screening, and referral to various service points up to BEH.
2. Screening
Screening conducted by a combined team of trained cadres from the various districts and BEH staff under supervision of DHO & regional ophthalmologists.
3. Management
Identified cases from the screening camps are managed by both the lower health units (health centers 3s &4s) and upper health units (referral hospitals and Benedictine Eye Hospital).
4. Collaboration
Collaboration with other service providers for management of complicated orthopedic cases.
